Outline Although a temporary ceasefire has been reached in the war between the United States/Israel and Iran, the safe passage of the Strait of Hormuz remains uncertain. The war is affecting both oil-producing and oil-consuming countries. In particular, Asian oil-consuming countries are moving away from oil in favour of energy security, with initiatives such as EV adoption and biofuel expansion. Among oil-producing countries, Saudi Arabia, which has a route bypassing the strait, and other countries outside the strait are benefiting from higher oil prices. However, this crisis could accelerate the global peak in oil demand and mark a turning point towards faster electrification.
